| Porthleah is situated in the village of Townshend, Nr. Hayle, Cornwall; in a lovely rural setting, with beautiful views extending across country to the National Trust owned Goldophin Estate. There are very pretty country walks, direct from Porthleah (view map), including a secluded woodland walk to a charming bridge across the Hayle River.
Within 2-3 minutes drive is 'Country Skittles', which used to be a farm but is now a bar and restaurant where, apart from skittles, there are about 60 different games on hand. One can try target pistol shooting, archery, croquet and almost every game you can think of! Situated almost midway between the North and South coasts, this is an ideal central base, in a lovely peaceful setting. Cornwall is renowned for its many gardens and most of them are easily accessible from Townshend. If you choose to take your holiday in the early Spring you will see them at their best. Porthleah's location is ideal for Hayle (4 miles), Camborne (5 miles), Marazion (5 miles), St Ives (9 miles), Porthleven (6 miles), St Michaels Mount (5 miles) & Penzance (8 miles); with easy access to both North and South Cornwall coasts and beaches. Close the South West Coast Path and other walks. Other activities such as Horse Riding, Golf, Cycling (Camel Trail), Fishing, Water Sports, Surfing, Wind Surfing, and Boat Trips are available locally. Local
